Review of Windows Vista Home Premium
So here we take a look at Windows Vista Home Premium. This edition is not really comparable to any form of Windows XP.
As it's name suggests it's primarily aimed at the home user, though the feature set on offer here delivers a new level of sophistication and functionality not previously available in this segment.
But the first thing we notice is the much discussed Aero glass interface which gives this edition a genuinely different appearance from any previous version of Windows. Naturally there's a price to pay for this in terms of minimum system requirements, as you'll see in our chart below.
The transparent glass-like menu bars certainly give the appearance a modern edge and changing between open windows is easily done in the new three-dimensional layout.
Offering much more functionality than the old XP Home it's a good choice for the enthusiastic home PC user.
Our verdict .. For the enthusiastic home user ready for a new level of functionality over a broad range of applications you can't really go wrong here. If you have the patience, why not wait for service pack 1, coming in very early 2008?
